FLYING HEIGHT TEST DISKS

Flying Height Test (FHT) Disks have been supplied to the majority of the global computer and data storage industry for 15 years running by The Optical Corporation. Flying height test disks are used to measure the flight characteristics of magnetic heads in hard disk drives. TOC has developed a broad capability in fabricating flying height test disks including superb parallelism, ultra-low surface microroughness, and exemplary inner hole concentricity.
Super-polished surfaces for microroughnesses < 2 Å rms
Parallelism < 10 arc seconds
Outer diameters from 48 to 150 mm
Inner diameters from 5 to 13 mm
Concentricity to better than 5 µm
Surface flatness to /4
